Quite a while ago, I built a Footprints gadget for Google Friend Connect.

It had been used quietly by acquaintances and people who happened to stumble upon this blog. But recently, when the Friend Connect gadget directory launched, I figured I'd take the opportunity to submit it, and it was published here.

After that, someone from Google contacted me saying, "It's such a fantastic gadget that we'd love to add it to 'Featured', so could you write a blog post about it?" (slightly dramatized). And here is the post I wrote:

Social Web Blog: See who’s visiting to your site with Footprints gadget

So, it got featured!

Actually, this gadget also supports Japanese and used to work in Japanese before. However, around the time the Social Bar became available on GFC, it became English-only. When I asked about this, they replied that internationalization support is planned in the near future. So the "Footprints gadget" might soon be usable as the "あしあとガジェット" (Footprints gadget in Japanese) again.

Setting up Google Friend Connect is relatively easy. If you're reading this, please consider adding the Footprints gadget and Google Friend Connect to your own blog!
