Through an unexpected turn of events, even though it wasn't my own work, I was roped into participating in the "Obaka App Championship," so I decided to take the opportunity and compete. The venue was TOKYO CULTURE CULTURE in Odaiba.

What I presented was the hot topic: weboo's "Chan-nee" gadget.

Chan-nee is a social app built using OpenSocial. The concept is that by continuously choosing between two photos of girls ("chan-nee") displayed on screen, you eventually find your favorite hairstyle. You can also save the hairstyles you like. Being able to see your friends' favorite hairstyles and having your favorites reflected in the activity stream really gives it that social app feel.

Well, not that I actually contributed anything to its development, though.

During the actual event, typical troubles arose: we were originally planning to demo it using the goo home sandbox, but ended up having to use mixi apps instead. As a result, many of the features weboo had meticulously prepared didn't get their moment in the spotlight, which was a bit of a shame.

However, the Oppai Engineer, who competed on the same "Team Sexy," saved the day with puniTouch and some brilliant talk, so all's well that ends well.

It was a truly unique event and a lot of fun. I hope I can enter with a creation of my own next time.
